Statement from Elders:

The Bible tells us that in a multitude of counselors there is safety. (Prov. 11:4)

The fluidity of what has been going on in relation to the Corona Virus (COVID-19) has given us several challenges to navigate.  The elders want the DBC family to know that God has blessed us with two elders (Br. Brown and Bro. Smith) who have daughters that are physicians and others in our congregation who have reached out to us with a medical perspective on this situation.  Along with other published information and a biblical perspective, we came to our decision on Thursday evening.

Based on the governor’s news conference it was decided to suspend services for temporarily and will evaluate each week as the situation provides more clarity.

In obedience to Romans 13, we submit to the governing authorities as their motive in this issue is our safety and not a prohibition on our worship.  Use the time to draw closer together as families and find other ways to make it a day to “Focus on Jesus”

Please do your best as soon as you get this information to share it with others.  The Elders will be calling you to confirm your receipt.  Below is the published statement from Governor Brian Kemp.

“Based on President Trump's emergency declaration, I will declare a public health emergency for the State of Georgia tomorrow morning. This declaration will greatly assist health and emergency management officials across Georgia by deploying all available resources for the mitigation and treatment of COVID-19."

Kemp also advised faith- based organizations and other large gathering bodies to cancel public events and services.

"Elderly citizens and those with chronic, underlying health conditions face a serious threat to their health, and we must do everything in our power to reduce risk associated with this virus," Kemp said, according to his statement. "Continue to support one another, be mindful of potential exposure, use best practices to prevent infection, and pray for your fellow Americans in the weeks ahead."
